Apart from walking into the community, another good way of cultural understanding would be hands-on cultural workshop, with sharing and stories from Cultural Ambassadors, or having dialogues with youth from different ethnicities.
Arabic calligraphy workshop
Time: 1.5 - 2 hours
Arabic calligraphy is a part of Islamic cultural heritage. In this workshop, participants will learn how to write and pronounce Arabic words, as well as listen to the stories of Muslims in Hong Kong.
“MeowMeow is missing!”
Multicultural Storytelling Workshop
Time: 1 - 1.5 hours
"MeowMeow is Missing!" is a multicultural picture book published by WEDO GLOBAL. This activity incorporates the elements of drama, Cultural Ambassadors use interactive ways to bring the story to life, taking participants on a journey of cultural discovery and personal growth.
Guided by the Cultural Ambassadors, participants will explore and appreciate the rich multiculturalism of the Yau Ma Tei community. They will have the opportunity to engage in conversations with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, learning to respect and embrace diversity.

Nepali dance workshop
Time: 1 hour or above
Through the Nepali dance workshop, participants can understand the specialty, origins and costumes of Nepali dance. Cultural Ambassadors will also share their personal stories of living in Hong Kong. The workshop is designed to boost participants' energy levels, co-ordination and rhythm in a fun and relaxing way.
Cultural bracelet workshop
Time: 1.5 - 2 hours
Cultural bracelet is made in some countries as a meaning of friendship and protection. In this workshop, participants can learn the culture and festivals related to cultural bracelet, at the same time create their own bracelet with different design and colors, and to show appreciation for their friend by exchanging the cultural bracelets with each other.
Henna DIY workshop
Time: 1 hour or above
Henna is commonly used for body drawing with the meaning of blessings. With the guidance of experienced Cultural Ambassador, participants will learn about the origin, meanings, and uses of henna, at the same time practice various henna drawing skills.
Colorful Rangoli workshop
Time: 1.5 - 2 hours
Rangoli is an art form in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, colored sand, or flower petals. It is usually made during Diwali or other festivals. In this workshop, participants will listen to the stories of Rangoli and try to make a Rangoli decoration using colorful sands.
South Asian Game Workshop
Time: 1-2 hours
In the South Asian Game Workshop, Cultural Ambassadors will introduce games that feature South Asian cultural characteristics, and invite participants to engage in them together. These games not only bring fun to the learning experience for participants, but also enhance their understanding of South Asian culture, allowing them to gain deeper insights and appreciation for the unique aspects of South Asian culture. Furthermore, the Cultural Ambassadors will also share their life experiences and the challenges they have faced, enabling participants to better understand the actual living conditions of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.
